Visitors experience the excitement of an outdoor festival, listen to classic songs performed by Bluegrass legends and explore the rich history of the Bluegrass music industry courtesy of a $3 million grant from the Kentucky General Assembly. Interactive computer stations allow visitors to compare the playing styles of different musicians, learn about specific Bluegrass techniques, and even mix their own Bluegrass songs. The Hall of Fame also features artifacts and personal memorabilia of Bluegrass greats such as Bill Monroe, Don Reno and Josh Graves.
1717 was commissioned to plan and design two levels of permanent exhibit galleries, the reception area and the gift shop for the International Bluegrass Music Museum located on the banks of the Ohio River in downtown Owensboro. Imaginative and entertaining exhibits, in 9,700 SF of gallery space, celebrate the high, lonesome sounds of white America’s most primal music form and pay tribute to the pioneers and legends of Bluegrass music.
