EARTH FROM SPACE

Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibits Service

1717 provided turnkey services to design and produce a traveling exhibit to be circulated to approximately 20 venues over three years. The system included 41 high - resolution, digitally-printed banners (4’ x 7’) on retractable banner stands, individual padded carrying cases and three rolling crates.

Comprised of vivid, freestanding banners and organized into seven sections, Earth from Space presents views of the planet few have witnessed with their own eyes: the swirling arms of a massive hurricane, the grid-like pattern of stripped Bolivian farmland, the triangular shadows cast by the Great Pyramids, the bend of a Venetian canal. Earth from Space also contains a powerful selection of images showing recent events such as the tsunami - devastated regions of the Pacific. This relevant, fascinating, and surprisingly beautiful exhibition is curated by Andrew Johnston, a geographer at NASM’s Center for Earth and Planetary Studies.
