Founded in 1889, The APVA is the oldest statewide preservation organinzation in the nation. With more than 6,000 members, APVA Preservation Virginia seeks to cultivate an awareness of the importance of Virginia’s historic and natural resources as educational and economic assets, promote their proper use, and protect them today and for future generations.
Over a period of time, the APVA selected 1717 to plan and design several different projects including an exhibit, site signage and marketing materials. The marketing materials included Discover Virginia, a full-color rack brochure featuring a map that identified the 34 properties they administer; Jamestown: America’s Hometown, a striking brochure promoting Jamestown, their premier property; Jamestown Rediscovered, a handsome brochure to raise awareness of the major archeological project they are sponsoring to locate Fort James; and an APVA Membership mailer with return envelope.
